We’ve seen cats do all sorts of crazy things. Thanks to video sharing and social media, we’ve seen cats freak out over cucumbers, defy the laws of physics, contort their bodies and make us laugh. But now, 6-year-old Tonkinese cat Brigit has surprised us with her own unique ability–stealing underwear!
For the last several months, Brigit has been sneaking around at night all over her home city of Hamilton on New Zealand’s North Island. Her (human) mom, Sarah Nathan, isn’t sure what to do with all the “gifts” she finds every morning from Brigit’s late-night excursions.
“It’s an absolute obsession,” Nathan told the New Zealand Herald on Sunday. “A night does not go by without her bringing things home. I got up this morning and there were another four socks in the house.”
In total (since January of this year), Brigit has managed to snag a whopping 50 socks and 11 pairs of underwear–and counting! Nathan has tried to rectify the situation by posting the Facebook photo (above) and leaving messages for all of her neighbors, but no one has come forward to claim the stolen goods.
Nathan is planning to move soon, and she hopes that Brigit will forget about underwear and find a new “obsession” to fixate on once they get to their new home. But if not, she still has a backup plan:
“Hopefully there’s something there she can find to catch, but if not, we may have to stash some undies around the farm to keep her stimulated.” For now, you better watch your clotheslines!
