Expectant Parents Can 3D Print Their Babies

3d baby 2Expectant parents are often thrilled to show off their growing baby’s progress. Family and friends alike are shown sonogram pictures throughout the pregnancy that show different developmental milestones–and now they can do it in 3D!

In each picture, you can see when the face is fully formed; you can start to see tiny fingers and toes; you find out if the new baby will be a boy or a girl. At each point, the sonogram shows exciting, real-life growth.

Now, thanks to 3D printing, you can keep those milestones forever.

3d baby 3Owner of Lancashire-based company Baby:Boo, Katie Kermode, 32, provides expectant parents the opportunity to get scans of their growing babies in the womb, which are then rendered in a 360 degree format and printed using a 3D printer.

Kermode built the company after two miscarriages, but is now the happy mother of two and is delighted to have memories of her successful pregnancies.

She said in one article, “People do think it’s a little odd, but it’s similar to creating casts of baby’s feet or hands. It’s actually a really lovely keepsake to cherish.”
