“When I went down to see how it was going I nearly died from shock when I saw what looked like the hairy face of an old man staring up at me,” says Russian farmer Blasius Lavrentiev.
After a long winter, the lifelong farmer was thrilled to find that one of his ewes was pregnant. When she eventually gave birth, though, the lamb looked shocking, to say the least. Especially considering that the lamb’s parents are both normal, Lavrentiev has no idea why the deformity happened.
With a long, protruding nose and open, human-like mouth, Lavrentiev–and his entire community–have never seen anything like it.
An elderly neighbor of Lavrentiev said of the lamb, “I’ve seen some weird stuff in my time, but nothing like this. She looks like an angry old man with a big nose.”
Another villager added, “I don’t know what to make of it really. But she terrifies my grandchildren. It will be interesting to see what she looks like when she gets older.”
One thing is for sure, and that’s the fact that this new, “special” lamb is with Lavrentiev to stay. Even with an offer for 10x the normal price of a lamb from a circus, Lavrentiev turned them down.
“Whatever has caused it she’s a little beauty and I definitely won’t be selling her for anyone’s dinner table either as the buyers want her on display. She’ll be staying with us until then.”
