As the proud Guinness World Record holder for the largest collection of two-headed animals, Tod Ray is used to seeing all things weird and unusual.
Tod also owns the Venice Beach Freakshow, an performance art show that’s eclectic, to say the least.
But even with all the oddities in his life, even Tod was surprised one day when an all but anonymous Arizona man sent him an unidentified creature he had supposedly found in his yard.
Upon receiving the package with the preserved creature, Tod was at a loss. “I don’t want to call it an alien, but it’s definitely alien in form. It’s about a foot long and has gill-like ear things below the head. It’s got weird eyes and something out of its mouth that looks like a fleshy fang,” he told HuffPost.
Upon seeing the creature, the Huffington Post staff reached out to several animal experts, none of which could come up with a conclusive finding about what the creature could be.
“It could certainly be an aborted/malformed fetus of any number of species but it appears to be an amalgam of different tissues,” Cristina Simmons of the San Diego Zoo said by email.
The only way to tell for sure would be to do a DNA test, which Tod is open to. It looks like we’ll have to wait and see!
